For Fun's Sake
It's pretty cloudy here today, and cold, but that's exactly the time to heat things up a little bit.
It's time to have some fun for Fun's Sake.
Let's dance!
Yes, this is me resting and staying off social media. π
I'm actually doing really well. I'm meditating. I'm doing puzzles, reading a "Funny. Sexy. Smart." book called the Love Hypothesis. It's cute and a little bit escapist and intellectually stimulating if indeed there is any truth and reality in the author's portrayal of the PhD. pursual process. It's fun.
And on the weekends I have been spending a monitored amount of time on YouTube and watching a movie here and there, no more than one per day.
Last night I watched Groundhog Day. Recently, I saw a video that ranked this movie as one of the best movies of all time. So I started researching, and I found an article about a monumental feat this one film scholar undertook during lockdown in 2020. Apparently, this movie Groundhog Day, is quite a great movie. Much deeper and more meaningful than the mere surface narrative of a random guy reliving one particular day of his life over and over and over again. Much more than I have ever given it credit for.
Anyway, this film scholar watched Groundhog Day, EVERY DAY, for one whole year! I've decided to take on a modified challenge, watching Groundhog Day, every day for at least a month. I decided on February, since Groundhog Day is on February 2nd, but last night I got a little head start.
I didn't finish the article that the film scholar wrote, because I wanted to form my own opinion of the movie and see what I, myself get out of it in a month of daily viewing. If I feel like I need to keep going, I will. But that's a heads up for what is in store for my February!
So why the New Kids on the Block, you might be wondering? Well, I was doing a little bit of morning scrolling on YouTube and along with some YouTube Shorts to improve my writing and prevent my sagging jowls, I landed on a video that sparked my interest about the New Kids on the Block, rehearsing for their show in Vegas. The whole thing just made me smile, which led me here, to share some smiles with you, maybe.
Now, these guys were super popular just a hair past my time, but speaking of hair (which you know makes me smile!)...the influence of their hair and it's prevailing, sexy style, definitely made it's way into my world back in the 90's, which also makes me smile.π
So, I got some smiles and a warmth in my heart this morning, watching these couple of videos, as I did last night watching Groundhog Day, which is weird, because I never liked the band or the movie all that much back in the day.
I think the thing is, that both of them give me hope. I have hope and assurance that things get better with age. We get wiser. We get sexier in our own weird ways. And that makes me happy. And very hopeful, that my life is not inevitably on a downward spiral from here on out. Maybe, really truly, the best is yet to come!
Happy Sunday!!
And...
If you want to join me in the dance, here's the video tutorial!!!⭐πΊπ⭐
